Look forward to seeing Ansel Elgort take the wheel in “the ultimate rock-and-roll car chase film,” which will be written and directed by Edgar Wright.

The Fault in Our Stars actor is pursuing more action-driven roles, most recently with Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver.

Ansel Elgort is reported as being in “early talks” for the main role, which has also been eyed by Percy Jackson‘s Logan Lerman and Star Wars‘ John Boyega. Variety expresses confidence that Elgort’s casting is as good as secured.

Elgort will be playing a young getaway driver, who drives to the beat of a rocking soundtrack (which we’re sure will feature lots of iconic hits). But trouble catches up to him when he gets involved with a crime boss and finds himself in the middle of a doomed heist.

Cars and rock music? It sounds like Dean Winchester’s wet dream. We’re sure Elgort will have a lot of fun with the role, if the deal comes together.

Edgar Wright recently dropped out of Marvel’s Ant-Man, citing creative differences. Script rewrites took the story in a way Wright couldn’t get behind, and he has moved on to different projects.

Ansel Elgort recently appeared in Men, Women & Children, and can next be seen in the Divergent sequel Insurgent (out March 2015).

Baby Driver is probably looking at a 2016 release date, but we’ll keep you updated as the story develops.
