Breakout star of Beasts of the Southern Wild Quvenzhane Wallis may have found her next role as she is reportedly “in consideration” to play the titular character in the upcoming Annie remake.

Apart from her Oscar-nominated debut, Wallis also has a small role in Steve McQueen’s Twelve Years a Slave, but this would be no doubt her next major role following Beasts of the Southern Wild. EW is reporting that Wallis is “in consideration” for the film, which will be directed by Easy A helmer Will Gluck.

The film will be produced by mega-stars Jay-Z and Will Smith, whose daughter, Willow Smith, was originally set to play Annie, before aging out of the role. Not much on the project is known, however the story will be getting a contemporary rewrite, whereas the original was set during the Great Depression.

Sony is reportedly eyeing a Fall 2014 release date for the film, so we can expect to hear official word on casting very shortly, as Gluck and company will no doubt need all the remaining time to make the film. A few weeks ago, Deadline reported that Gluck was currently rewriting the script and was eyeing a Fall start date for filming.
