Anne Hathaway will play an American in Paris as part of her next big screen project.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway has officially signed on to star in StudioCanal’s upcoming adaptation of French Children Don’t Throw Food.

The forthcoming project is based off of an autobiography by Pamela Druckerman of the same name (though also published outside the U.K. under the title of Bringing Up Bebe: One American Mother Discovers the Wisdom of French Parenting).

Originally published back in 2012, the New York Times best seller finds American journalist Pamela Druckerman trying to navigate child raising as a new mother living in Paris, France. The autobiography finds her detailing the differences she observes in how French children are raised, and adopting some of the practices Parisian parents use for herself.

THR also notes that the forthcoming adaptation is billed as being “Julie & Julia in tone,” and that it’ll find Hathaway’s character trying to figure out how to balance both her family and her career.

Behind the scenes, Jamie Minoprio (I Want Candy) and Jonathan Stern have been tasked with writing the script for the adaptation. Currently, there doesn’t seem to be a director attached to helm the project.

StudioCanal’s French Children Don’t Throw Food doesn’t yet have a release date attached, but Hathaway fans won’t have to wait long before they see the actress back on the big screen.

Coming up next, Anne Hathaway is set to star opposite Octavia Spencer in director Robert Zemeckis’ adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Witches (due out October 9, 2020). She also recently joined the cast of the upcoming Sesame Street movie, along with Chance the Rapper and Bo Burnham, expected to hit theaters in January 2022.
