We have yet to see Catwoman in the new DC cinematic universe, but it’s probably only a matter of time. Turns out Anne Hathaway is up for a triumphant return.

Anne Hathaway previously starred as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, where she played a new incarnation of Selina Kyle, the cat burglar that so vexes Bruce Wayne. She’s not quite good and she’s not quite bad, which makes her an interesting antagonist for the steadfast Batman.

We’ve seen a new Batman, played by Ben Affleck, in the shared universe the DC movies have turned into, but we’ve yet to see a hint at a new Catwoman.

Speaking to Variety, Hathaway says, “I loved that character and I had such a blast playing her,” adding, “it would be fun to take a trip back.”

She admits this prospect would be difficult given that Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy is separate from the DCEU, but a girl can dream right?

It certainly would be nice to see Catwoman in the new universe at some point. We know there’s going to be a solo Batman film, which just cast Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke, so there’s room for her character at some point.

However, it’s unlikely the studio will bring Hathaway back for the role, wanting to separate themselves from Nolan’s previous films. And though fans of Hathaway’s take on the character will be disappointed, it’s also a great way to see another interpretation of the sneaky thief come to life.

After all, Camren Bicondova is currently killing it as a younger Selina Kyle on Fox’s Gotham television series.

Besides, Hathaway is going to be a little busy taking on a major role in the all-female Ocean’s Eleven reboot currently titled Ocean’s Ocho. Hopefully we’ll be seeing her kicking ass again.
