In Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, Zac Efron and Adam Devine’s bro-comedy is derailed by Aubrey Plaza and Anna Kendrick, who flawlessly out-bro them.

It’s a tale as old as time: Zac Efron and one or more sexy male sidekicks wreck havoc in a boys-will-be-boys sort of way, romance ensues, there’s a big party, roll credits.

Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates sounds like more of the same, with Efron and Adam Devine (Pitch Perfect) as the party bros who are told they need to find a pair of nice girls and settle down, in order to behave themselves at their sister’s wedding.

Enter Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza, the movie’s secret weapon, and the best hope Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates has of standing out from the crowd of similar-themed raunchy comedies.

The extended trailer for the hilarious-looking summer flick debuted on The Late Late Show With James Corden on Sunday night. Check it out:

Plaza and Kendrick play a pair of party girls who respond to Devine and Efron’s call for wedding dates. “We’re gonna look respectable as f—” Plaza promises; cut to shots of the two of them turning the wedding party on its head, and making Efron and Devine scramble to keep up.

Funnily enough, another Zac Efron flick — the sequel to Neighbors — is employing a similar tactic of introducing a group of scene-stealing ladies to turn the dudebro genre on its head. We approve!

Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates is directed by Jake Szymanski, and hits theaters on July 8.
