CBS’ Mom will have to carry on without actress Anna Faris.

According to TV Line, series star Anna Faris has officially chosen to exit the series ahead of its season 8 premiere.

In a statement announcing her decision to leave the sitcom after seven years, Faris revealed that she has decided to depart from Mom in an effort to pursue other opportunities.

“The past seven years on Mom have been some of the most fulfilling and rewarding of my career,” said Faris in a statement. “I’m so thankful to Chuck [Lorre], the writers, and my amazing cast mates for creating a truly wonderful work experience. While my journey as Christy has come to an end, allowing me to pursue new opportunities, I’ll be watching next season and rooting for my TV family.”

In addition, WBTV, CBS, and Chuck Lorre Productions issued a joint statement addressing the departure of Faris.

“From the inception of Mom, Anna was the first and only choice for the role of Christy. We are so proud of the stories we have been able to tell during Anna’s seven years with us,” they said. “We wish Anna the best, and we thank her for her beautiful portrayal.”

The series, which first debuted via CBS back in 2013, found Faris playing Christy— a newly sober single parent trying her best to raise her kids. In addition to parenting, the series also detailed the highs and lows of Christy’s relationship with her own mother (Academy Award winner Allison Janney), who also happens to be a recovering addict.

Though Faris will no longer be involved with the series, fans should’t expect the role to be recast. Instead, the plan is for Mom to address Christy’s absence in season 8.

Mom season 8 expected to premiere sometime in November on CBS.
