After focusing on directing, Angelina Jolie plans to start acting again. This likely means that she’ll star in the upcoming Maleficent sequel for Disney.

Prolific filmmaker Angelina Jolie is debuting her newest film, First They Killed My Father, this week at the Telluride Film Festival. The movie tells the harrowing tale of Cambodia under Khmer Rouge rule, and hits Netflix on September 15.

For the occasion, Jolie spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about her future projects, and revealed that we can likely expect to see her in front of the camera in the near future.

“Right now, I don’t have anything to direct that I feel passionate about, so I’ll do some acting,” Jolie says, adding that she’s been taking some time off to deal with her family situation and be with her children.

As for what’s next? “Maleficent, we’re working on, most likely. And I look forward to having some fun with that,” says Jolie. “Cleopatra, there is a script. There’s a lot of different things floating around. But I haven’t committed.”

So although Jolie says that “at some point, I’ll probably just direct,” we can probably expect a few different acting projects for her before that time comes.

Inspired by Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent re-imagines the story from the perspective of the titular villain. It was a big hit for Disney at the box office, with Angelina Jolie’s performance being regarded as a highlight of the film. Linda Woolverton is returning to write the sequel script, with Joe Roth on board to produce.
