The director and producer for the sci-fi YA book Angelfall film adaptation is none other than the deliciously morbid Sam Raimi.

Author Susan Ee’s Angelfall will be under the steady hand of tried and true director/producer Sam Raimi.

Raimi is well known for his work on the cult classic The Evil Dead and blockbuster Spider-Man 3.

In speaking of Raimi joining the Angelfall film adaptation, Ee said, “I’m tremendously excited to be working with a creative powerhouse like Sam Raimi.”

Ee continued, “Having Angelfall be received so enthusiastically by the readers and then having a world-class director/producer like Sam Raimi want to make a movie of it is simply the definition of joy for me.”

Along with interviewing Ee, Entertainment Weekly received an exclusive photo of the author of Angelfall with the other producers attached to the project.

Angelfall is a novel set six weeks after an angel-induced apocalypse on earth. Protagonist Penryn’s sister is taken by the angels, forcing her to team up with the broken angel Raffe to retrieve her. The duo travel to the heart of San Francisco, where perils and evils that neither of them could have imagined present life and death challenges.

Angelfall was originally a self-published book in 2011, but was bought by Amazon’s Children’s Publishing for a full re-release this up and coming August.

We find it exciting that the Angelfall film adaptation will be handled by such a fun director. Although The Evil Dead was a hoaky Rocky Horror Picture Show-esque feature, we enjoyed what he did with the third Toby Maguire Spider-Man film.

However, we feel that he will have to walk a fine line to make sure that the Angelfall film adaptation isn’t too over the top.

How do you think the horror and blockbuster director Sam Raimi will handle the film adaptation of Susan Ee’s ‘Angelfall’?
