In a completely unsurprising development, reps for Angela Lansbury confirm that she has not been cast in Game of Thrones.

Rumors that the legendary British actress would join HBO’s epic fantasy series kicked off this past weekend, thanks to a report in the German newspaper Bild. Bild is widely acknowledged as a tabloid, so it’s not surprising that they seem to have tossed two famous names in a blender and published whatever came out.

However, EW reports that Lansbury’s team has denied the claim. Lansbury, who has countless film, television, and theater credits to her name, will not add Game of Thrones season 7 to her prodigious resume.

Though it’s certainly appealing to imagine 90-year-old Lansbury kicking ass and taking names on the notoriously gory series, it’s good to know that order has been restored to the universe. Forget Murder, She Wrote — let’s focus our attention on more likely daydreams, like George R.R. Martin’s long-delayed release of The Winds of Winter.

(Murder, He Wrote, anyone?)

So far, the casting scene for Game of Thrones season 7 has been relatively quiet. The only new actor confirmed to be joining the cast is Jim Broadbent, another Brit with a vast body of work that includes the role of Professor Slughorn in the Harry Potter films.

But of course, it wouldn’t be HBO or Game of Thrones if they didn’t leave us with more questions than we came with. Broadbent’s character has not been revealed, building yet another layer of mystery into a season that already promises to take fans by surprise.

Game of Thrones will return in 2017.
