The lovely Angela Bassett took the time to chat with us about her involvement with For Your Sweetheart, the upcoming Election-themed American Horror Story season, and even tease a bit of Black Panther!
We began by talking about the inspiration behind her joining For Your Sweetheart, the nationwide movement aiming to raise awareness of the critical link between Type 2 Diabetes and heart disease. The issue is deeply personal for Bassett who lost her mother to heart disease. To become an advocate, you can register for more information. For each individual who signs up, Boehringer Ingelheim and Lilly will donate $1 to split equally among the participating patient advocacy organizations to support efforts for people living with diabetes and heart disease every day.
Bassett was a stand-out guest in Master of None’s newest season. She describes the on-set chemistry she and Lena Waithe (Denise) had and even considers herself a second mother to her as they bonded over Waithe’s very personal story.
With her stunning American Horror Story directorial debut fresh in mind, I had to ask about the highly anticipated Election themed season where she revealed she will be returning to direct for season 7!
She also teased her newest series in which she’ll again be collaborating with Ryan Murphy and Brad Fulchuk in a 911 drama on FOX. They’ll begin working on the series this summer.
Bassett was understandably tight-lipped about her upcoming involvement in Marvel’s Black Panther but she did tease a bit of possible ass kicking. Check out the full video interview below!
