Celebrating the 75th anniversary of The Hobbit’s release, Andy Serkis appeared at an event decorated to look like The Shire and read from J.R.R. Tolkein’s classic novel.

The best part about this reading is that Serkis is reading in the voice of Gollum. The actor plays the creature in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films and is obviously still very skilled in creating a portrayal. It’s good that he keeps practicing because Jackson may need him for more work to create that recently-announced third Hobbit film.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’s second trailer was released last Wednesday and made its way around the web, with fans and writers alike giving their take on what could be deduced from the new footage. One of Hypable’s content writers took an extensive look at what information was gained through the new trailer, so be sure to check out our Hobbit trailer analysis.

It was revealed a little over a month ago that the films would now be a trilogy and will be named: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (December 14), The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (December 13, 2013), and The Hobbit: There and Back Again which will hit theaters just seven months later on July 18, 2014.
