As we recently reported, Andy Samberg has decided to not return to Saturday Night Live when it returns next season. Now the funny man is speaking up a little about his decision to leave the late night comedy show.

This week while attending the MTV Movie Awards, E! Online caught up with Samberg and asked him what made him want to leave the show. He responded:

“Honestly, I don’t have a definitive answer. It really had nothing to do with any one project I was moving onto or something else in the future that I have.”

“I felt like it was my time,” he said. “I talked to a lot of friends about it — a lot of friends who have been on the show. Me and Kristen talked about it a lot. I just came to that point.”

When asked if he ever expects to host Saturday Night Live one day, he responded:

“Let’s just hope I get some work after SNL.”

Were you sad to hear about Andy’s departure? It seems like there wasn’t a concrete reason to leave other than it ‘just felt right.’
