Find out a little background information on The Walking Dead star Andrew Lincoln by picking up the latest issue of Men’s Health magazine. They sit down with the Englishman on set in Atlanta to talk about his decision to become an actor, his introduction to The Walking Dead, and staying fit while filming.

Some of you may remember Lincoln from his part in 2003’s Love Actually as the guy whose unrequited love for his best friend’s wife broke people’s hearts. We’re fairly certain that most Americans also first noticed Lincoln in this small role, but he got his leading breakthrough in the UK on the BBC series This Life in 1996 after graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

Even though Lincoln hails from the other side of the pond, he does a pretty solid Southern accent. His character, Rick Grimes, is sheriff’s deputy from a small town in Georgia, so he needs to have a specific dialect down. According to the article, he even keeps the accent while in between scenes during filming, showing his dedication to the part.

As a northerner, I’m pretty convinced by his rendition of Georgian accent. If I hadn’t known he was English from his parts in Love Actually and Wuthering Heights, I would have assumed he was American. But maybe those of you from the South think differently.

Men’s Health also interviewed The Walking Dead costar Steven Yuen, who reinforces Lincoln’s role in inspiring the cast, remarking. “Andy keeps the show alive.” Yuen plays the smart and lovable Glenn alongside Lincoln’s reliable Rick, struggling for survival in this post-apocalyptic drama.

Being a fitness magazine, there are also plenty of links to workout plans in case you need to get moving on your six-pack. But they make sure to connect it to The Walking Dead, keeping it all in good fun.
