One of the biggest questions preceding Sony’s reboot of the Spider-Man franchise is “does the story need retelling?” Andrew Garfield has a very well reasoned response to this query in a freshly posted Comic-Con interview! Video after the jump!

It’s been almost a decade since the first release of the web slinger (true, the last installment was only four years ago, but it’ll be five by 2012 when The Amazing Spider-Man hits theaters), and fans are already questioning if it’s too soon for a full reboot of the series.

Andrew Garfield has a perfectly adequate response to this type of thinking in this interview below (courtesy of Collider via ComicBookMovie)

We think this almost guarantees another retelling 15 to 20 years from now (assuming that the sequels from this one aren’t still running).

It’s refreshing to hear that Garfield has such a personal connection with the wall crawler. Since Spider-Man has such a close place to his heart we can bet that he’ll do the role justice in The Amazing Spider-Man
