Ladies and gentlemen. We have just been handed an urgent and horrifying news story, and we need all of you to stop what you’re doing and listen.

But seriously, the release date for the highly anticipated Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues has just been announced, and that is a scientific fact. According to a tweet from Anchorman director Judd Apatow, San Diego’s number-one news team will return for another sex-panthering jazz-fluting outing one year from tomorrow.

For those of you that don’t speak Spanish, this means that we can expect to see the Channel Four News Team again on December 20, 2013. Some of you may remember when Ron Burgundy announced the news himself on Conan O’Brien, but until now it wasn’t clear when the news team would be taking us back to Pleasure Town.

For those that missed the news, Anchorman 2:The Legend Continues will take place during a major shift in mainstream news diversity (which, by the way, is NOT an old, old wooden ship) that will threaten the Action News team. As Latino and African-American anchors join the new 24-hour news format, the news team must prove that they’ll be able to adapt (or not adapt) after they realize that the times, they are a changin’.

Will Ferrell and the rest of the Channel Four News Team (including Paul Rudd, Steve Carell and Christina Applegate) are all scheduled to return, though it’s unclear if the film’s eclectic collection of bit players will also make a comeback.

If December 20, 2013 seems too far away, feel free to express your anguish through the majesty of song.

Until next time, I’m Ron Burgundy?
