America’s Got Talent was back last night the most exciting night of the season, and quite possibly ever. Here’s our recap of last night’s show.

Up first was David “The Bullet” Smith who took his act to the next level by attempting to score a 40-yard field goal – with himself. Howard says people don’t understand how dangerous this is. He said 85% of the people who have tried to do this stunt are dead. Smith confirmed this was true. Sharon and Howard both thought he had missed the target and thought he was dead. Sharon thought he needed to fly over “a bed of alligators on fire.” Howie thought it was amazing, but he wondered where he can go with this act. If Smith were to win this show, we wonder how an act like this could be a show, so that should be a factor.

The stereotype-breaking, all-male clogging group All That! took the stage next. Sharon wanted them to come back with leather trousers, no tops, and lots of oil. Howie didn’t want to see the same thing. He thought it was really cool to see eight guys clog, but he thought the night was so talent-filled that they might not make it. Howard said Sharon was right in the fact that it needed something more. Howard loved them, but didn’t know that they did enough.

Ulysses, the ever opinion-splitting crooner, took the stage next. He got “X’s” from all three judges. Howie said “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” He said that Ulysses changed too much from the act he liked. Howard likened him to what is wrong with America – including the economy and terrorism. He said that he was right about the fact that Ulysses shouldn’t have been here. Sharon agreed with Howie that she loved what Ulysses was, not what he did tonight.

The sand artist Joe Castillo performed another amazing act. Howard called him unique, amazing, that he belonged there, and that he’s a genius. Sharon said it was absolutely incredible, moving, and said thank you. Howie said thank you as well and loved that his work was so moving. He noted that it’s clear that Castillo’s deceased father who wanted him to be an artist was with him there tonight.

10-year-old mariachi singer Sebastien “El Charro de Oro” performed his version of the classic song “Bésame Mucho.” Sharon said that she didn’t know much about mariachi music, but that she loved Sebastien. Howie likened him to a male, Mexican Jackie Evancho. Howard called him terrific. Sebastien broke down crying and said he was one step closer to helping his brother.

Mind reader Eric Dittleman took his act to a completely different level. This week he did a spin-off of Howie’s former TV show Deal or No Deal? where he knew what case Howie would pick. Howard said that if America didn’t vote for him something’s is wrong. Howie said that he was amazing and that he is the real deal. Sharon said America will be talking about him today. You have to watch this.

William Close was one of the judges’ favorite acts, and because of that he didn’t have to perform in Vegas. He proved why last night, as his room-filling earth harp was unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. He got a standing ovation from all of the judges and the whole audience. Howie said that the show was over and that he’s won the entire competition. He said he would pay any amount of money to see this act. Sharon said she had seen a few amazing acts on this stage, but she’d never seen anything to Close’s level, including the professional acts that they invited onto the stage. Howard said that they just need to give him the prize because he’s unbeatable. Howard said that all three judges would be willing to put up their own money and produce a show with him.

The dance act Unity in Motion had the tough position of following William Close. Howard said again that they were the best dance act of the competition. Howard said that they absolutely deserve to get through, but they might not because of the skill level of tonight. Sharon said that they were perfect. Howie didn’t know if it was spectacular enough.

The duo that seemed like it might better as a one-person act finally proved why it’s key that it is a duo. Eric and Olivia seemed like Olivia was the star and Eric was unnecessary, but they let us know tonight that Eric does all the arrangements. Sharon said Olivia had a great, unusual voice. Howie still thought the act was a smaller act than a million-dollar act. Howard said that they were great, but they didn’t have enough to make it past this crop.

The stage belonged to Lindsey Norton next, and she owned it. Howie called it indescribable. He said that America has a tough choice ahead of them. Howard called it beautiful and that she deserves to go through, but can’t figure out who will. Sharon loves Lindsey more every time she sees her. Sharon thought America would vote for her.

Nick Cannon asked that you don’t try Horse‘s act anywhere. The king of the nut shots told us why he chose the name Horse. Just as Bruce Wayne chose Batman because of his fear of bats, Horse chose his name for his fear of horses, but instead of fighting crime he gets hit in the nuts. Howard said that he finds it hilarious and that it’s an act you either love or hate, just like his own radio show. Sharon said it was entertaining. Howie said talent is objective and that it’s a really good act because it engages the audience.

Quite possibly the best animal act ever, the Olate Dogs looked to prove just that. Predictably, they got a huge standing ovation. Sharon didn’t know what to say. She called them magnificent. Howie said he’s seen all kinds of dog acts, but he’s never seen anything with this amount of skill. Howard said he loved the act and that all he could say was, “WOW!”

Predictions to advance: This is unsure as we’ve ever been, but since we have to pick we will. We’re almost positive about William Close and the Olate Dogs, and we predict the other two will be Eric Dittelman and Joe Castillo. We don’t see how you can leave out Sebastien “El Charro de Oro” and think that Lindsey Norton deserves to make it through as well.

While it did make for a fantastic episode, we think it was wrong of the producers to lump this many good acts together. We think that all six of the previously mentioned acts are better than Maurice and Shanice Hayes, Edon, and the Scott Brothers, three of the four advancing acts from the first quarterfinal. It really isn’t fair to the performers who took the stage last night, as many of them that were good just didn’t have a shot.

America’s Got Talent will be back tonight at 9 p.m. ET/PT with the results from last night’s show.
