America’s Got Talent was back last night with auditions from Austin, Texas. Here’s our recap of last night’s round of auditions.

The first act of the night was Sebastien De la Cruz, the youngest member and singer of a mariachi band called El Charro de Oro. I didn’t really know what to expect because the band looked like it could be good, but I’m typically wary of kids that young. De la Cruz has impressive power for his age, and the only thing that I was less than impressed with was that he was slightly flat in some place, but I think that will improve greatly.

The next act to impress was an uncle/nephew acrobat team called the Bandbaz Brothers. The uncle used to do this kind of act, but he’s been retired for eleven years only to pick it up again two weeks prior at the ripe old age of 58. It was clear he had been away for a while as the act was very shaky and it looked like they were going to fall, but that added to the tension of the act. The clip starts at about 1:45 following some terrible acts.

In the best moment of the season, American hero Timothy Michael Poe wowed everyone. Poe spent fourteen years in the military before his career was ended in 2009 by a grenade that broke his back and gave him a brain injury that causes him to stutter severely. Guided by his speech pathologist to sing in the shower for therapy, Timothy Michael Poe found out that he has a great singing voice. Poe picked the perfect song by choosing to sing “If Tomorrow Never Comes.” Poe should be considered the favorite to win the entire competition as he not only has an amazing talent but a fantastic story. Thank you for serving, Timothy Michael Poe. You truly are an American hero.

Update: Timothy Michael Poe’s story is not true.

The patriotism kept rolling with Joe Castillo, an artist who utilized light and sand to tell stories. His story last night was set to the tune of “God Bless the USA.” It was absolutely beautiful and I cannot wait to see another one.

The moment we’ve all been waiting for finally arrived – we finally saw David “The Bullet” Smith shoot himself out of a cannon. The judges were wowed, but I fail to see how the act can grow or command a show.

AGT will be back tonight at 9 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC with more auditions from Austin!
