The American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) revealed the nominees for their 2013 awards show, rewarding five achievements in cinematography, as Life of Pi and Skyfall appear to be the frontrunners.

This announcement marks the final guild or awards nominations before tomorrow’s Oscar nominations are revealed, and they certainly make the Best Cinematography category a little more interesting past Life of Pi and Skyfall.

The nominees are as follows:

Seamus McGarvey (Anna Karenina)
Danny Cohen (Les Miserables)
Claudio Miranda (Life of Pi)
Janusz Kaminski (Lincoln)
Roger Deakins (Skyfall)

Looking at our predictions in the Best Cinematography category, there are two differences in the five slots, as we had Zero Dark Thirty and The Master in the fourth and fifth slots, instead of Les Miserables and Lincoln.

Taking into account these nominees, it seems likely that Lincoln will get a Oscar nomination, although we’re still holding out for Zero Dark Thirty over Les Miserables, with probably The Master getting edged out. But everything’s still up in the air.

Regardless, we’ll have our answers tomorrow, January 10, at 5:38am PST, when the nominees for the 85th Academy Awards are announced. We’ll have the complete list available the moment they’re announced, so stay tuned!

Are you happy with the ASC nominees?
