Though we’re still a few months away from the American Idol season 12, a new promo video featuring season 11 winner Phillip Phillips has been released.

Phillip Phillips won American Idol this year with Jessica Sanchez, who is set to appear on this season of Glee, coming in as runner-up.
American Idol season 12 kicks off this January in a 2-night premiere on January 16 and 17 at 8 p.m. (both nights), according to a press release distributed today from Fox.
There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the show already when celebrity judge Nicki Minaj got in to a confrontation with fellow judge Mariah Carey. The situation heightened not long after that when Mariah Carey confessed to Barbara Walters that Nicki allegedly threatened to shoot Mariah Carey.
Many fans of the show and of the artists wondered if the situation that unfolded was actually a long-winded publicity stunt to gain momentum moving in to the show’s premiere in January. Regardless of whether or not that is true, for Mariah to allege that Nicki threatened her with a gun is a serious matter that should not be taken lightly.
