American Idol is getting creative with their live shows amid the current coronavirus pandemic.

ABC’s American Idol, like many television series found themselves unexpectedly halting production in an effort to practice social distancing as the coronavirus pandemic continues to sweep the world.

Originally, the first live show of the year was scheduled to air on Monday, April 6. Of course, the current shelter in place orders found ABC putting a pause on their original plans.

American Idol’s live shows may have missed their intended kickoff date, but that doesn’t mean the hit music competition series will be pulling the plug on them altogether.

In fact, the long-running series took to took to Twitter to let fans know that the the show, would indeed be proceeding with live shows— albeit, remotely.

“ON WITH THE SHOW!” Tweeted the series, while simultaneously sharing a separate tweet from host, Ryan Seacrest.

The aforementioned tweet didn’t provide fans with specifics in terms of when the live show would be airing. According to Deadline, however, ABC has set a date of Sunday, April 26 for the first live show.

As Seacrest’s tweet reveals, the two hour event, will find both judges and contestants participating remotely in an effort to continue practicing social distancing.

That means fans who tune in will see current judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, Lionel Ritchie weigh in from their homes in California and Nashville, respectively. Also set to perform their normal duties from the comfort of their own homes are hosts Ryan Seacrest and Bobby Bones.

In addition, this year’s top 20 contestants, they’ll also be performing remotely in an effort to win the votes of viewers across the nation.

American Idol’s two-hour remote live show event is set to air on Sunday, April 26, at 8 p.m. on ABC.
