Fox has formally announced the American Idol season 13 judges as filming ramps up today.

American Idol season 13 will feature a three-person judges table made up of Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr., and Keith Urban. Randy Jackson, who left his position as a judge earlier this year, will become a mentor in the position that Jimmy Iovine filled for several seasons.

Connick Jr., who was the last artist to join as a judge in the past week, said in a press release, “I have always been a huge fan of AMERICAN IDOL and really enjoyed my time as a mentor on the show. And I am honored that they’ve asked me to be a judge this season. As an entertainer, I am truly excited to bring my perspective to AMERICAN IDOL, and to help emerging performers find their way.”

Added returning judge Urban, “I think this season of IDOL is gonna be a blast. New team, new energy and a whole new field of artists to be discovered and given a chance!”

Host Ryan Seacrest, who is the sole member of the show who has maintained the same position in the shows 13-season history added, “I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of the AMERICAN IDOL XIII family. Our new producers, judging panel and mentor are all fired up for this season. I’ve already witnessed some amazingly talented contestants from around the country during our early auditions, cementing my belief that a new superstar is well within our sights.”

A refreshed logo for the show, pictured above, was also shared today and takes on a Super Bowl-type feel thanks to those roman numerals.

American Idol premieres this January on Fox. While it’s nice to hear the panel is finally set, we don’t think this judge’s panel will shake up the show or save its limping ratings. Do you?
