Last month David. O Russell’s star-studded film got a release date (Christmas), and now it finally has a title: American Hustle.

The film was originally titled American Bullshit before it was dropped and temporarily had no title. According to Box Office Mojo (thanks Slash Film), the new title is similar – they’ve kept half of the original, titling it American Hustle. It is a drama about a 1970s FBI sting known as Abscam that took down several U.S. congressmen.

The cast is stellar: it includes Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Louis C.K., Robert De Niro, Alessandro Nivola, Elisabeth Rohm, Dawn Olivieri, Jack Huston, and Michael Pena. Bale, Cooper, Lawrence, Adams, and De Niro will all be working with Russell for the second time. They all starred in one of his two most recent films, The Fighter and Silver Linings Playbook. Jennifer Lawrence and Christian Bale of course won Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor at the Academy Awards for their roles in Silver Linings Playbook and The Fighter, respectively.

As we’ve said in the past, we’re interested to see Louis C.K. in the film. He’s perhaps the world’s premiere stand-up comedian at the moment. His work on his show Louie shows that he has the dramatic chops that American Hustle will require.

In the past week, set photos have begun to appear. The good people at Slash Film rounded some of them up, and they’re quite the sight. If the stellar cast wasn’t enough for you, the amazing hair and wardrobe alone have to be worth the price of admission:

It’s hard to tell what’s better, Cooper’s curls or Bale’s balding.

This movie is looking more and more like it’s going to be incredible. When you take into consideration the cast, the subject matter, and the Christmas release date, it should be expected to make a solid Oscar push.
