In a new clip from David O. Russell’s Oscar-hopeful American Hustle, Christian Bale and Jeremy Renner can’t get enough of smelling Jennifer Lawrence’s nails. You read that right.

Hot on the heels of the first American Hustle clip, this latest glimpse at the film is again centered on Jennifer Lawrence’s character, Rosalyn Rosenfeld, although instead of setting the microwave on fire, she’s getting a little bit too excited about her nail polish.

See for yourself:

Apart from the clearly outlandish subject matter of the scene, the clip gives us a great indication of just how unique and interesting these characters appear to be. Whether it’s Bale’s unfortunate comb-over or Lawrence’s subtle vocal change, we’re definitely intrigued. The last time David O. Russell and Jennifer Lawrence teamed up for Silver Linings Playbook, Lawrence walked away with a Best Actress Oscar, as well as three other acting nominations. It may be too soon to tell, but American Hustle is sure to garner similar awards attention.

In fact, the first screening for American Hustle took place over the weekend for select press and awards voters, with the first reviews expected next week once Sony lifts the review embargo. Despite this, reactions have sprung up on Twitter and elsewhere over the past 48 hours, with some calling the film a masterpiece, while others who were a little more hesitant to champion it still praising its cast. We’re certainly excited, to say the least.

American Hustle stars Bale, Renner, Lawrence, Amy Adams, and Bradley Cooper. Check out the synopsis below:

A fictional film set in the alluring world of one of the most stunning scandals to rock the States, “American Hustle” tells the story of brilliant con man Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), who along with his equally cunning and seductive British partner Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams) is forced to work for a wild FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper). DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia that’s as dangerous as it is enchanting. Jeremy Renner is Carmine Polito, the passionate, volatile, New Jersey political operator caught between the con-artists and Feds. Irving’s unpredictable wife Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence) could be the one to pull the thread that brings the entire world crashing down. Like David O. Russell’s previous films, “American Hustle” defies genre, hinging on raw emotion, and life and death stakes.

‘American Hustle’ hits theaters on December 18.
