Though it’s yet to be seen by the general public, American Hustle won Best Picture today at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards.

The ceremony for all winners – listed below – will be held January 6. Said 2013 NYFCC Chairman, Joshua Rothkopf in a press release, “I’m very happy with the work we’ve done today. The complexion of our group guarantees some surprises, but we always vote from our hearts. It was an extremely strong year for American movies.”

Best Foreign Language Film:
Blue is the Warmest Color

Best Cinematography:
Bruno Delbonnel, Inside Llewyn Davis

Best Nonfiction Film:
Stories We Tell

Best First Film:
Ryan Coogler, Fruitvale Station

Best Animated Film:
The Wind Rises

Special Award:
Frederick Wiseman

The voting panel is made up of members of the New York media like Entertainment Weekly, Yahoo! Movies, Rolling Stone, Slate, New York Daily News, and many other outlets.
