With no surprise to anyone, FX has ordered another season of American Horror Story produced by Ryan Murphy.

American Horror Story: Freak Show has set a new record rating for FX with its premiere last week. Because of this, the network has wasted no time in ordering another season of American Horror Story. The fifth season will be 13 episodes long and debut in October 2015.

The premiere episode of American Horror Story: Freak Show is now the most-watched single program in the past 20 years on FX. Freak Show premiered with 10 million total viewers, 6.54 of which were in the Adults 18-49 group, and 4.08 in the Adults to 18-34 group. Previously, Sons of Anarchy had held the record prior to this with 9.25 million total viewers on their season 7 premiere.

John Landgraf, CEO, FX Networks and FX Productions announced the renewal. Stating that, “The American Horror Story anthology has had the highest growth trajectory of any show in FX history, not to mention an unprecedented track record of success in awards recognition.”

Landgraf seemed confident in the show’s continued success, adding that, “AHS continues to deliver amazing stories, a brilliant troupe of actors led by Jessica Lange, and a visual style unlike any other on TV. With Nip/Tuck, Glee, The Normal Heart, and American Horror Story, Ryan Murphy has established himself as one of the most successful and prolific producers of this generation. We expect AHS: Freak Show and the next incarnation of AHS to further his legacy.”

Recently, it was also announced that FX ordered a new anthology titled American Crime Story from Ryan Murphy. The series will be a “companion” to American Horror Story and will feature one crime per series. The first series is set to focus on the infamous O.J. Simpson trial.

American Horror Story: Freak Show airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
