The first image of Frances Conroy on American Horror Story: Asylum has been released! Take a look at the ominous photo here.

Early in September, Ryan Murphy revealed that Frances Conroy would be appearing on the second season of American Horror Story. Then he described her as the “ultimate angel” but from the image her character looks quite dark. The synopsis for this week’s episode describes a dark angel coming to Briarcliff which terrifies Sister Eunice.

It’s hard to tell if her character will be on the side of good or evil this season. It could be a little of both much like the first season in which she played a temptress maid. On one hand Moira had committed adultery with Constance’s husband for which she was murdered. As a ghost she continued to try and tempt those who entered the house but seemed to do it for good reason. She was also often protecting Vivien and Violet.

The question remains who is the dark angel? And why does Sister Eunice fear her so much?
