Last night’s episode of American Horror Story: Coven showed that dying is no big deal when you have a friendly witch handy. Today, Ryan Murphy is explain the episode and the character’s new lease on life! Spoiler Alert!
Apparently being burned at the stake is no problem when you’re witch with resurrection powers, as Misty Day proves. But her new lease on life won’t be any easier, Ryan Murphy tells Entertainment Weekly. While Misty loves her home in the swamp she will seek out the witches living in New Orleans.
And at one point she will be discovered. “She doesn’t want to live in this world,” says Murphy. “This world is too hard for her. But at a certain point she has to adapt or die.”
While some may think that Misty has a crush on Zoe that just isn’t the case. According to Murphy it has more to do with loneliness than a sexual attraction.
In contrast to Madison, Zoe, Nan, and Queenie being forced together Misty has always been alone. Murphy says Misty just wants to be part of the group, “She grew up not knowing or seeing anybody else who was like her.”
“Boy Parts” also brought back Kyle, in a kind of monster form. Murphy says he thinks there actually is hope for Zoe and Kyle despite their romance being seemingly doomed. “I just love that he becomes this monster who is only in love and can protect one person, his creator. So it’s sort of a reverse Dr. Frankenstein.”
Murphy says that the key to moving forward with Zoe and Kyle is seeing if she can help him become a man again. Or will Kyle always be doomed to be this monster. And also revealed that in the next episode fans will get to meet his mother who’s played by Mare Winningham.
Marie Laveau and her Minotaur lover have also avoided death. While Laveau and Fiona won’t be getting along we will see Laveau helping Cordelia with her infertility in the next episode. The Minotaur on the other hand is going to be a big bad of Coven and Murphy likens him to Bloody Face and The Rubber Man.
The questions is, will the Minotaur be acting of his own volition or is he Laveau’s henchman. Murphy offers a bit of clarification saying, “Well, when your boyfriend gets turned into a minotaur, what are you going to do? I think she keeps him in that back room and has great sex with him and takes him out to do her bidding. I think that’s what she does.”
