FX has released the first promotional images of Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett dressed in costume for their characters in American Horror Story: Coven, as well as some addition plot-line details!
A few days ago fans got their first look at the cast of Coven in a promotional video for American Horror Story season 3. Now Entertainment Weekly is sharing the first look at Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett dressed in character.
New details about the characters were also shared along with the promotional images. We already know that Cordelia (played by Sarah Paulson) is Fiona’s (played by Jessica Lange) daughter. What we didn’t know is that the pair are estranged and living separately at the start of the season.
While Cordelia is the headmistress of Miss Robichaux’s Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies, Fiona has been living in L.A. She only returns when she hears about the murder of a young Salem witch near New Orleans.
American Horror Story executive producer teases, “Miss Robichaux’s Academy is set upon by multiple outside adversaries.” He clarifies that the Voodoo witches are one of the adversaries. While he doesn’t say the others, it’s already been revealed that Kathy Bates’ character will be frenemies with Fiona.
With these outside threats Fiona and Cordelia will butt heads on how best to protect the school and girls they teach. Fiona wants to teach the girls how to battle their enemies. Cordelia, on the other hand, would rather make peace with the enemies.
More details on the students were also supplied. Emma Roberts will play Madison who is described as a troubled teen star. Gabourey Sidibe will play Queenie who is the tough girl. Jamie Brewere will play enigmatic Nan. Taissa Farmiga’s character Zoe is described as shy and will have a love interest in Evan Peters who plays Kyle.
