When you watch American Horror Story: Coven never count a character out just because they die. Find out who is back and who is on their way out in our full recap!

Who is the next Supreme? That is question on everyone’s mind on tonight’s American Horror Story: Coven episode “The Sacred Taking.” One is named, but the other ladies still question their own powers.

War is Brewing: It is safe to say that when you are facing a woman holding a man’s still beating, bleeding heart, you are going to need some new talking points. Zoe and Madison approach Queenie lurking under the Louisiana freeways to lure her back to the Coven. Queenie now lives under the guidance of Marie Laveau, who promises to make her stronger. Queenie warns the ladies that VooDoo and the witches cannot exist in peace with one another for much longer.

Old Bones: Cancer is eating away at Fiona at a rapid pace. No longer able to focus on exterior beauty, Fiona still has love to keep her going. Not from Cordelia, who wishes she die sooner, but from the recently resurrected Axeman. She rejects his offer to live out her final days with him as she loses her hair and withers away. It is not dying that scares her, but the ugliness that will occur before it happens.

Fiona jibes that she has considered killing herself, but would rather live and spite those around her, denying them the satisfaction.

The Boy Next Door: Shirtless Luke is back, but this time the visual prize comes with a glimpse into the life he endures behind closed doors. His mother Joan continues her torture with the church as her guide. Luke needs to cleanse himself from the dark magic of next door and the only way to be truly clean includes his insides. Use your imagination.

Meanwhile, Nan contemplates her chances of being the next Supreme, but when the others laugh at her consideration, she flees next door to find Luke tied up in a closet to repent for his sins. They try to run, until Hank shows up armed with silver bullets and kills Joan and critically injures Luke. The blessed silver bullets missed Nan, but reveal to Cordelia that with witch hunters after them, no one is safe.

Out With the Old, in With the New: Cordelia understands that Fiona will stop at nothing to find the source draining her life. Instead of losing more members of the Coven, a few more show up just in time to aid Cordelia’s murderous plot. Misty Day seeks a save haven from a shooter, toting a familiar friend, Myrtle Snow.

Myrtle admits that while the ladies of the Coven are talented, the next Supreme is Misty Day. She has performed more resurrections than Jesus, a feat that is beyond the seven tests. Misty is flattered, but the life of a Supreme is not for her. Though one cannot fight their fate, feeling ungrateful for the burden is not uncommon. That night, the witches form a circle, covered in black lace veils, and begin The Sacred Taking ritual as part of their plan to kill Fiona.

The Sacred Taking has only been executed three times to ensure the survival of the Coven. The first, in Salem, allowed the Supreme to take her own life and pass on the leadership to a new young witch as they fled south. However, Fiona will not willingly take her own life. But with a little push, she might.

“Is Everyone Back From the Dead?” Madison appears in Fiona’s bedroom teasing her that she is the next Supreme and resurrected herself as proof. Madison is ready to have Fiona burned at the stake for her crimes, but offers her a deal. She can swallow a handful pills and drift to sleep instead.

Myrtle arrives next and finds Fiona attempting to pack. Fiona may believe her love will remain with her until the end, but Myrtle sets her straight and says that she is fool to believe he will put up with her deterioration for that long. It’s time to go, Fiona.

Dressed in a brilliant head scarf, black dress, heels, and a fur coat, Fiona takes the pills and drifts to sleep. Until Spalding wakes her up and fills her in on the lies she swallowed almost as well as the pills. He convinces her to throw up the pills. Finally his tongue is doing some good in the house.

The witches lay around downstairs, until Fiona arrives announcing she knows everything and does not plan on going anywhere until she gets a glimpse at the “swamp witch.”

Luckily, a fresh corpse lies next door. Misty takes her hands and places them on Joan’s face, bringing her back in a matter of seconds. Fiona expresses some concern, that is until Misty passes out from the action and she defaults to a suiting eye-roll.

Head Case: Queenie has a bit of regret handing over Delphine to Cornrow City. Marie on the other hand has no problem punishing the woman who cannot die for eternity. Delphine suggests burying her until the natural order (in the White House) returns. Marie has a different idea and sends a present to the Coven instead.

Downstairs at the Academy, Cordelia proclaims she is not apologizing for plotting to kill Fiona. Instead of being angry, Fiona beams nothing but pride. For once, she feels the Coven is in good hands. Cordelia admits that she is glad Fiona is around, especially now that witch hunters are after them. The doorbell draws Fiona to take in a package to the dining room where she opens it. Inside, Delphine’s severed head whispers, “Help!”

Line of the night:

•Myrtle Snow on her magical hair regrowth: “I’ve been buying it in bulk from North Korea for years!”
