Ryan Murphy has revealed Angela Bassett and Patti LuPone are joining the cast of American Horror Story season 3, Coven.

Yesterday, American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy took to twitter to announce Angela Bassett and Patti LuPone are joining the cast.

Just like most of the cast, nothing is yet known about the characters they will be playing. However, it is known that the focus of Coven will be witches. Three of the cast members will be portraying actual people. Neither the cast members that will be doing this, nor who they are playing are known.

The show is also supposed to take place in multiple locations. So far, though, only New Orleans has been confirmed. Earlier this year, Murphy teased that season 3 would would be lighter than the previous seasons. It will also bring back the romance featuring a Romeo & Juliet type story.

American Horror Story season 3 Coven is still months away, set to premiere around Halloween 2013.

You may know Bassett from her Emmy nominated role in The Rosa Parks Story. Bassett was also nominated for an Oscar and won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Tina Turner in What’s Love Got to Do With It. She’s also appeared on TV shows such as ER, Alias, The Cosby Show.

Singer and actress LuPone has two Tony Awards under her belt for her roles in Evita and Gypsy: A Musical Fable. Her TV appearances include Army Wives, 30 Rock, and Ugly Betty.

American Horror Story season 3 Coven will also star Jessica Lange, Frances Conroy, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Taissa Farmiga, Kathy Bates, Gabourey Sidibe, and Lily Rabe.
