FX has announced that Kathy Bates has signed on for American Horror Story season 3 as Jessica Lange’s opposite!
Not much is yet known about Bates’ role in American Horror Story. According to TV Line, her character will start out as Lange’s best friend who then turns into her enemy. It should also be noted that her status is “nearing” a deal with the show. Since Ryan Murphy usually gets what he wants, we’re sure it’s going to happen.
Although this season is supposed to be lighter with a lot more glamour, it sounds like there won’t be any shortage of drama. Murphy has also teased that the show will take place in modern times and in various cities. Some fans have been speculating that the focus would relate to witches. Young love will also be in the mix in the new season, much like the first. No word yet on who or what character will be involved in that storyline.
Bates most recently starred in two seasons of Harry’s Law, which aired on NBC until its cancellation. You may also know her from The Office, Revolutionary Road, or Failure to Launch. And, of course, who could forget her infamous role in Misery!
Bates joins Frances Conroy, Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Lily Rabes.
