Lord of the Rings vet Dominic Monaghan is heading to AMC for his next starring role.

According to Deadline, actor Dominic Monaghan has officially signed on to star in Moonhaven over at AMC.

Hailing from Peter Ocko, Moonhaven is set 100 years in the future when life on Earth has become perilous. The series follows a lunar cargo pilot and a smuggler named Bella Sway. After she’s accused of committing a crime, she winds up being marooned aminds a utopian colony called Moonhaven up on the Moon.

Moonhaven, in turn, was set up in an attempt to find a fix for all of the problems down on Earth that could soon make the planet unlivable and spell the end for civilization as we know it.

Together with a local detective, Bella finds herself embroiled in an attempt to stop those who wish to destroy the artificial intelligence up in Moonhaven that might be Earth’s only hope of survival.

For his part, Dominic Monaghan will play Paul Serno. His character is one of the detectives on the moon who’s working to solve the issues down on Earth.

Behind the camera, Peter Ocko served as creator, producer, and writer on Moonhaven. In addition, Deb Spera will also serve as an executive producer alongside Ocko.

Currently, there’s no word on when we might expect to see Moonhaven debut via AMC.

As for Dominic Monaghan, fans can currently catch him serving as co-host along with his fellow Lord of the Rings co-star, Billy Boyd, on the new Kast Media podcast, The Friendship Onion.
