Exactly one day before Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 6, Amazon has announced that their Fire Phone now costs 99 cents with a standard 2-year contract.

The offer is a compelling deal for customers who are in the market for a smart phone but aren’t looking for a $99+ price tag that comes along with an expensive phone contract.

The Fire Phone contains a 32 GB hard drive and runs a modified version of Google’s Android OS. You can order and learn more here.

For a limited time Amazon is offering one free year of their Prime service when you purchase the phone. Prime will give you access to a library of streaming movie and television content similar to Netflix’s offerings in addition to free 2-day shipping and a handful of other benefits.

Amazon can be somewhat successful from a deal like because they’re locking you into their ecosystem. By getting a Fire Phone, chances are you’ll purchase music, movies, books, and thousands of other products through Amazon rather than Apple, Google, and other competitors.

Apple currently offers their iPhone 4s for free with a 2-year contract, but the device is three years old. As of tomorrow, Apple should be dropping the cost of the iPhone 5 or 5c with a two-year contract to $0.

Hypable will be offering coverage of Apple’s expected iPhone and iWatch announcements on Tuesday. Stay tuned!
