Amazon’s A League of Their Own series has found its newest cast member in Nick Offerman.

According to Deadline, Parks and Recreation vet Nick Offerman has officially signed on to join the cast of the upcoming series adaptation of A League of Their Own.

Based on Penny Marshall’s hit 1992 sports dramedy of the same name, the forthcoming Amazon Original series is described as a “fresh approach” to the movie it’s based on.

Set in 1943, the series will tell the story of a new team of Rockford Peaches, focusing on surviving their first season in the American Girls Professional Baseball League.

In addition, the series plans to dive deeper into some of the subject matters the original 1992 film touched on— including those of prejudice, equality, race, and sexuality.

For his part, Nick Offerman is set to take on the role of Casey “Dove” Porter. An former pitcher for the Cubs, he got his nickname when his forkball famously killed a dove in mid-air in the middle of a game.

Unfortunately, his dreams of becoming a major league star were thrwarted three years prior after he blew his arm out. He signs on to join the Rockford Peaches organization as the coach for the team, hellbent on turning the group into a team of champions.

Offerman joins a cast comprised of Abbi Jacobson, Chante Adams, D’Arcy Carden, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Roberta Colindrez, Kelly McCormack, Priscilla Delgado, Molly Ephiram, Kate Berlant, and Melanie Field.

In addition to starring, Jacobson (Broad City) will also serve as co-writer on the series alongside Mozart in the Jungle’s Will Graham.

Currently, there’s no word on when we can expect to see A League of Their Own debut via Amazon Prime Video.
