The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb recently sat down with Coming Soon to discuss some very interesting plot details in his new Spider-Man film coming out July 3.

The interview is a bit lengthy, so here are a few of the points Marc hits on. He discusses how he pitched the movie before landing the directing job and how he went directly to the comics to bring Gwen Stacy to life. He explains why he decided to bring in Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man and answers the question of whether the Lizard was the original villain in the film’s first screenplay. He also mentioned that he needed to leave out one of the most classic lines from the Spider-Man comics and how he urged the studio to allow him to do more practical stunts, despite the vast technological advances in CGI since Tobey Maguire played the character.

“In a really big, huge, action movie…there are these really small intimate moments where, what would the realistic behavior be in a situation like Peter’s?” – Marc Webb

He also explains something we’ve noticed in the trailers, Spider-Man’s hilarious use of wise cracks and whether he would want to direct another Spider-Man film. It’s definitely worth the watch, so be sure to check it out.

Marc seems like he was the perfect director to take on a Spider-Man reboot, are you guys as excited as we are about this movie?
