In the latest Amazing Spider-Man 2 featurette Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield discuss their difficult relationship in the film.

New footage is included in the new Amazing Spider-Man 2 featurette, but the focus of the teaser is how Gwen and Peter will deal with their strenuous relationship. Watch The Amazing Spider-Man 2 featurette below via Sony:

While Spider-Man may be the main character, Emma Stone has done an incredible job creating Gwen Stacey. In the new footage we see that she’s willing to continue moving forward in her life because she has “dreams and goals of her own.” We also see a shot at the end which shows Peter has put “I love you” on a bridge out of webs while Gwen heads to the airport in a cab.

While Spider-Man has a handful of villains to deal with in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, it looks as though his internal struggle will be how to keep his relationship together.

He keeps seeing Gwen’s father in different places, reminding him about the promise he had given him about staying away from Gwen so that villains don’t come after her. Peter looks like he’s having a hard time dealing with his promise to Gwen’s father and making Gwen happy at the same time.

Aunt May is still trying to find out what her nephew is up to and we see a funny scene where she tells Gwen “He’s doing whatever it is he does.” It’ll be interesting to see if Aunt May finds out who her nephew truly is in the second film.

Gwen gets accepted to Oxford University and this causes a major hurdle for both of them as Gwen is highly intelligent and driven, while Peter feels the need to continue being Spider-Man and protecting the city from half a dozen villains.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 release date is set for May 2, 2014. Stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone will be returning as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy, Jamie Foxx (Electro) will also be in the film, along with Sally Fields, Dane DeHaan, Paul Giamatti, and Colm Feore.
