Amanda Seyfried is in talks to join Seth MacFarlane’s upcoming comedy western A Million Ways to Die in the West, which MacFarlane will star in alongside Charlize Theron.

From The Hollywood Reporter, who broke the news:

Million Ways follows a sheepish farmer who chickens out of a gunfight and sees his girlfriend leave him. When he meets the wife of a notorious outlaw (Theron) who offers to teach him how to shoot, the farmer sees a chance to win back his love.

Amanda Seyfried would play the role of the girlfriend. Apart from her recent performance as Cosette in Les Miserables, Seyfried is portraying Linda Lovelace in the upcoming, much talked about biopic Lovelace.

THR also reported on the Charlize Theron casting, so this report has added credibility. Media Rights Capital, who was also behind Ted, will finance A Million Ways to Die in the West, as well. Scott Stuber is producing along with MacFarlane, who is eyeing a May production start date.

So far MacFarlane has created an intriguing cast, to say the least. The film is described as a Blazing Saddles-style comedy with modern sensibilities, which should be interesting given the cast so far. It’ll be interesting to see who else joins the cast when all is said and done.
