The latest trailer for The Divergent Series: Allegiant takes a break from fear mongering to tug at your heartstrings

Allegiant’s new trailer spends a large portion of its time focusing on the wall surrounding Chicago. Crossing over to the other side means freedom for Tris — or so she thinks. As you can tell from the preview, our heroine (Shailene Woodley), her bae, Four (Theo James), and their friends (played by Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller, Zoe Kravitz, etc) will be climbing the wall so they can break free and explore the outside world.

This, despite Insurgent ending with Chicago residents walking through a giant opening in the wall. This clash in storytelling may be a little confusing to those who haven’t read the book, no?

While it spends a lot of time scoring feels points, the Allegiant trailer does hint at antagonists to come. Namely: Troublemaker David (Jeff Daniels) and Matthew (Bill Skarsgård). Watch below!

There are also some sexy shots of Four and Tris showering (separately?) as they wash away their past.

Although it’s not marketed this way, the Allegiant movie is loosely based on the first half of the book of the same name by Veronica Roth. Allegiant, Part 2 is titled Ascendent and will hit theaters June 9, 2017.

“After the earth-shattering revelations of Insurgent, Tris must escape with Four and go beyond the wall enclosing Chicago,” reads the film’s synopsis. “For the first time ever, they will leave the only city and family they have ever known. Once outside, old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless with the revelation of shocking new truths. Tris and Four must quickly decide who they can trust as a ruthless battle ignites beyond the walls of Chicago which threatens all of humanity. In order to survive, Tris will be forced to make impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice and love.”
