Have you been bemoaning the lack of all-female team-ups in Marvel? All that is about to change with the A-Force.

G. Willow Wilson has tweeted some interesting and exciting details regarding the newest hero joining the A-Force roster, Singularity.
So Singularity is an interesting character. She's not a flesh and blood human being, but a cosmological event that gains self-consciousness.

This may inspire some more open conversations regarding gender fluidity and sexuality, along with the other characters on the roster who identify across the spectrum of sexuality and race, though Wilson was quick to assure The Mary Sue contributor Marcy Cook that this doesn’t mean Singularity will be used for transgender representation — as she is a non-human without gender.
Regardless, it feels very much like a step in the right direction — and inspires hope that we may just see a transgender character on the pages of Marvel comics in our near future.

With the Time Runs Out arc coming to a conclusion, and Secret Wars due to take its place, Marvel announced on The View Friday morning that an all new female team will be leading the way — the A-Force.
From the cover we can be guaranteed a team of some of Marvel’s most beloved female heroes. Front and center is She-Hulk, surrounded by other tenured Marvel characters — such as Spider-Woman, Scarlet Witch and Captain Marvel. We’ll also be seeing an all new hero joining the line up — the “cosmically powered” Singularity. There’s no shortage of kick-ass females in this line-up, and it is certain to have a character to suit everyone. Did you spot any of your favorites? We sure did!
G. Willow Wilson, responsible for the acclaimed Ms. Marvel reboot, will be co-writing A-Force with Marguerite Bennett. X-Men artist Jorge Molina will be heading up the art, rounding out the A-Force creative team. Considering their previous titles, they’ll certainly be a force to be reckoned with.
“We’ve purposefully assembled a team composed of very different characters — from disparate parts of the Marvel U, with very different power sets, identities and ideologies,” Wilson said. “They’ll all have to come together to answer some big questions: What would you sacrifice to succeed? What is being a hero worth?”
What indeed? Secret Wars promises to shake things up in the Marvel universe come May, seeing some of the teams we’re familiar with disbanded in the face of the event. Things may not be plain sailing for the A-Force, but one thing is for certain — it won’t be a title to miss for any Marvel fan.
With the recent surge of female related titles hitting the shelves — including, but not limited to, Thor, Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel and Black Widow — it feels like it has been a long time coming for this all-female Avengers team. We hope it is a trend we’ll continue to see in their comics, and likewise in Marvel’s other ventures. We’ll be placing our pre-order for A-Force as soon as we possibly can.
