A definite must-read, Nuts by Alice Clayton will have you swooning and laughing out loud at the same time!

Roxie Callahan has been living her dream as a private chef in Los Angeles, but a well-timed disaster with one of her clients, and a mother asking for a huge favor, has her packing to go back home.

Now Roxie has gone from cooking luxury meals to making burgers at the family diner while her mother is off competing on reality television.

But there are some perks to being back home, such as a hunky local farmer by the name of Leo Maxwell who happens to have some lovely nuts. Walnuts that is. Roxie has rules about relationships: She likes to keep things simple and between the sheets. But will Leo be too much temptation to keep the romance to just a summer fling?

‘Nuts’ book review:

If you’re a fan of Alice Clayton’s The Unidentified Redhead, then you will love Nuts. Even if you’re not already a fan of Alice Clayton, you will still love Nuts. It’s the perfect mix of humor and romance to have you laughing out loud and swooning at the same time. We probably won’t be able to say enough things about how much we love this novel, but we’ll give it a try anyway.

To start off, Roxie is a refreshing female character to read in a romance novel. All too often we find female characters who fit inside a neat little box with no real defining characteristics. Roxie isn’t that character; she’s outside the box and all over the place. And we love her for it.

Readers will either identify with Roxie, want to be her, or want to be her BFF. She’s not afraid to swear, she’s driven, has a crazy mom, and an amazing romance with Leo. And her fear of bees is something we can totally relate to. What’s not to love?

To make Nuts even better is hunky farmer Leo. We’re totally on board with everything he has going for him. Thriving business? Perfect! Not afraid to get down and dirty? Yes, please! Rugged but sexy? Sign us up! Even with everything going for Leo, he doesn’t have that typical player attitude. But when he meets Roxie, he falls for her just as quickly as we do.

A lot of novels play out a similar story where one of the characters is falling harder than the other. But in the case of Nuts, both Leo and Roxie are right on the same level. Neither of them was expecting it, but that’s how life is sometimes. And we love it when real life is reflected in romance novels.

As if all of this wasn’t enough to make us love the novel, the additional characters made everything better. Chad and Logan might be our favorite friends to the protagonist ever written. They keep Roxie grounded throughout the novel and added plenty of opportunity for hilarity. Roxie’s mom is the quintessential hippie to stir up trouble. As well as some other characters who we loved but can’t mention because of spoilers!

Basically, take our word for it and go pick up some Nuts.
