Alexandra Bracken, author of The Darkest Minds has revealed the cover for the sequel, titled Never Fade, along with an excerpt and additional news!

Never Fade is the followup novel to The Darkest Minds, which will see Ruby working for the Children’s League and still struggling with the idea that she is a monster. She’s learns of an important and potentially dangerous secret — one that just so happens to be in the hands of Liam, who she now has to track down. Never Fade releases on November 5, 2013.

Entertainment Weekly shares the cover:

You can read the first chapter of the book over on EW.

In addition, Bracken reveals that she has also written a bridge novella that will take place in between the first and second books in the series. From her Tumblr, she says:

By bridge novella, I mean it takes place between books one and two and if you’ve ever wondered anything about:

– What it’s like to live in the world of TDM as a young adult who was too old to be affected by IAAN and too young to have lost a kid

– What parents are attempting to do to get their kids back

– How the skiptracer system works

– What’s happening with Zu

… then this is the novella for you! It’s actually one of my favorite things I’ve written (!) and I am, like, psychotically excited for you all to read it.

In Time, as the novella is called, will release as an eBook on July 16.

Lastly, Bracken will be at Book Expo America at the end of the month. For the event, which Hypable will be attending, she has made the postcards below that will match ones she made for The Darkest Minds. She says, “I consider [Show Your Colors] the unofficial slogan of [Never Fade]. Lots of people being sneaky and not showing their true colors/intentions, so to speak.” The cards will also be available at her other events later in the year.

What do you think of the ‘Never Fade’ cover? Will you be picking up a copy in November?
