Today in “actors who probably won’t be in Star Wars: Episode VII but we have to report the rumors anyway”: Alex Pettyfer and Rachel Hurt-Wood.

The rumors again come from Latino Review. This time they are saying that Alex Pettyfer and Rachel Hurd-Wood have auditioned, but that they definitely aren’t close to roles as of yet.

For those keeping score at home, they were the ones who said Disney and Lucasfilm were looking at Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron. The Gosling rumor has since been denied. They also reported that Ewan McGregor and Ian McDiarmid would return to the series.

They’ve been hit and miss with their Star Wars: Episode VII reports so far, but it’s not unreasonable to think they’re accurate here. Large quantities of actors will obviously want to be in the film, so it should be assumed these actors could be in that bunch. A source also told /Film at one point that Pettyfer was in the mix, so that makes the rumor more likely to be true.

Of the two, Pettyfer has certainly had the bigger career to this point. He’s done some pretty big films in his career including I Am Number Four and Magic Mike. He currently has a very small role in Lee Daniel’s The Butler.

Most people question his acting talents, and rightly so. Much of his work has not been very good, but he was casted by Steven Soderbergh for Magic Mike. Soderbergh must have seen something in him, and he wasn’t awful in the role.

The other name in the report, Rachel Hurd-Wood, is a bit less known. Her first role was Wendy in Peter Pan, and it’s probably what she’s still known most for. The Latino Review report says that she auditioned for the role of Princess Leia’s daughter, the role many expect will be the lead of the new trilogy.
