Alex Kingston, who plays River Song in Doctor Who, has expressed her feelings about Harry Potter director David Yate’s plans to turn the hit BBC Drama into a feature film.

The star discussed her surprise during an interview on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson saying, “I can’t believe they’re doing it”.

She went on to say that nobody could do it better adding, “Who are they going to get to write it, who is any better than Steven Moffat or Russell T Davies? Honestly, they’re the best, aren’t they?”

Kingtson joins a host of stars, including Shaun of the Dead actor Simon Pegg, who have spoken out against the reboot of the show.

Last week a BBC spokesperson claimed that the project is still being developed and is a few years away yet because there is no script or cast at present.

In the meantime fans of the show can look forward to the winter special, The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe, which will most likely be broadcast on Christmas Day in the UK.
