Alcon, the company behind the Beautiful Creatures film, has optioned Icons from Margaret Stohl. This is the author’s first solo novel after the Beautiful Creatures series.

Erwin Stoff brought the project to Alcon and will produce with Beautiful Creatures producers Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson. Molly Smith will executive produce.

Johnson and Kosove expressed their excitement over working with Stohl again, “Once we learned of Margaret’s new venture, we jumped at the chance to continue our partnership with her and this amazing series of books.”

More about Icons

Icons focuses on an Earth that has been overrun by an alien race. Everything changed on The Day. The day the windows shattered. The day the power stopped. The day Dol’s family dropped dead. The day Earth lost a war it didn’t know it was fighting.

Dol survives and frequently asks herself why when so few did. She resides in the country avoiding the Icon and its power.

When Dol and her best friend, Ro, are captured and taken to the Embassy, off the coast of the sprawling metropolis once known as the City of Angels, they find only more questions. While Ro and fellow hostage Tima rage against their captors, Dol finds herself drawn to Lucas, the Ambassador’s privileged son. But the four teens are more alike than they might think, and the timing of their meeting isn’t a coincidence. It’s a conspiracy.

Within the Icon’s reach, Dol, Ro, Tima, and Lucas discover that their uncontrollable emotions — which they’ve always thought to be their greatest weaknesses — may actually be their greatest strengths.
