We may know him best as the tragic Severus Snape in the Harry Potter movies, but the star of both stage and screen will soon be gracing our screens as the founder of New York’s famous CBGB club.

Forbes reports that the British thespian will play Hilly Kristal in a new independent movie which tells the story of the influential New York rock club. The movie will include overt references to legendary musicians The Ramones, Talking Heads and Patti Smith – all of which appeared at the “Country, BlueGrass, Blues” club.

Little else is know about the flick, other than it will feature “young actors” in the roles of the club’s musicians. It will be produced by Jody Slavin and Randall Miller. No release has yet been announced.

Thanks to Mariam for the tip!
