The cast of AHS: Freak Show has reason to celebrate! Find out what Finn Wittrock had to say about his Emmy nod and next season.

This morning, Finn Wittrock was honored with an Emmy nomination for Dandy Mott in AHS: Freak Show. He was not the only cast member to accept a nomination. Freak Show‘s Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Denis O’Hare, and Jessica Lange also scored nominations. The show itself received a nod for Best Limited Series.

Wittrock was too nervous to watch the Emmy nominations roll in this morning, choosing to distract himself rather than stare at the computer. Speaking with TV Line he said, “I made some scrambled eggs and coffee and then suddenly I heard [my wife] let out this joyful scream: ‘You got it!'”

Dandy Mott turned out to be the most terrifying character on AHS: Freak Show last fall. After episode four bid farewell to the highly anticipated villain, John Carroll Lynch’s Twisty the Clown, Wittrock stepped forward to bring his own twisted reign of terror to Jupiter, Florida. Dandy Mott’s unnerving calm demeanor, followed by rampant outbursts of anger and destruction certainly highlighted the series’ fourth installment.

Following the nomination, Wittrock said that his source of inspiration for Dandy came not so much from studying other psychopaths, but by getting in touch with his youthful spirit… in a terrifying way.

ICYMI: AHS: Hotel at Comic-Con: All the killer details

Freak Show was not short on Dandy driven killings, but can he pick the most twisted? “How do you pick a number one between hacking Matt Bomer to bits, stabbing Patti LaBelle and bathing in your mother’s blood… The mass murder at the end finally made me like, ‘Oh, God. This is hard.’ Killing that many people did start to take an emotional toll on me a little bit,” said Wittrock. We do not doubt that.

The countdown to the Emmy Awards is on, but Wittrock has another more pressing commitment to focus on — AHS: Hotel. According to Wittrock filming begins in two weeks and this season his character will be stuck in a love triangle with Lady Gaga and Matt Bomer.

While we do not expect Dandy or Andy to rise from the grave to check in, old grudges are hard to keep buried. Wittrock concurs saying, “Yes. Bomer and I will go head-to-head once again. Payback might be a bitch.”

Congratulations to Finn Wittrock and the rest of the AHS cast and crew!

AHS: Hotel returns to FX this October.
