Serial killers invaded the AHS: Hotel tonight in time for Halloween. Who became the next victim of the Hotel Cortez?

It’s “Devil’s Night” at the Hotel Coretz. In the first half the two-part Halloween special, AHS: Hotel episode 4 gets into the mischievous spirit of October 30. No pumpkins, no candy, just a few friends swapping stories and spilling blood. What better way for Mr. March to meet the detective hunting the Ten Commandment Killer than by inviting him to a party of the nation’s finest serial killers?

Who’s who?

The Hotel Cortez’s guests and staff are plagued by murder. The bust of the Wineville Chicken Coop murders of 1925 turned up nothing more than a bloody sheet and a pile of bones belonging to Mrs. Evers’ son. It’s no wonder that Evers went on to work with the Master of Serial Killers, Mr. March.

Suspended for eternity within the walls of his Hotel, Mr. March sought to build a following to carry on his legacy. After they die, the apprentices gather each Devil’s Night to honor their master.

The key players at the table include:

John Wayne Gacy aka “The Killer Clown”: Catching Mr. March’s eye while on a road trip to the Pacific, an 18-year-old Gacy was taken into the killer’s confidence. When he did not quake at the secrets of the hotel, Gacy went on to murder 33 boys and hide the bodies under his house. This is no small number, but March thought he had the potential for 300 more. Gacy got sloppy and the sagging subfloor began to reek of rotting bodies.

Gacy, however, likes to lead with his business credits and describe his fantastic rec room before revealing his body count and tricks with handcuffs.

Aileen Wurnoes: This Devil’s Night is “Lucky” 13 for the killer of men from Florida, whose tortured past drove her to commit seven murders in under a year. John Lowe almost made himself number eight after picking her up at the bar in the Cortez lobby. At dinner Wurnoes reveals why she finally started fighting back when men took more than she was willing to give. March told Wurnoes that she was worth something. He was the first man to show her any respect.

Richard Ramirez aka “The Night Stalker”: The Hotel Cortez welcomes the Satan worshiper with a treat on his pillow — a married couple from Arizona. The Master found Ramierez in the middle of his killing spree and offered some sage advice that would not only increase the volume of victims, but keep him moving out of the cops’ sight. Leave no evidence, provide a wide range of victims, and you’ll be in the killing business for years. Just look at how many bodies March claimed with his chutes and ladders!

Zodiac Killer: Never caught by the authorities, it is likely this unknown killer died. The Zodiac Killer arrives late, cloaked in darkness, keeping the mystery alive after all these years.

Jeffery Dahmer aka “The Milwaukee Cannibal”: John Lowe makes Jeffery Dahmer a quiet man. Lowe fits the killer’s profile and Dahmer has gone an entire year without the taste of fresh meat. March has another amusement prepared for the killer: a young boy to keep Dahmer occupied. Dahmer likes to control his victims, making them a part of himself. March taught him that the trick to luring the boys in was to get inside their minds.

March did not expect Dahmer to take the advice quite as literally as he did, drilling holes into his victims’ skulls before drugging them into submission.

Unfortunately, Charlie Manson could not attend as he is still living out a life sentence.

These killers all made their mark in history — their stories will live on forever. These major players all have John Lowes and Sallys in their pasts; the ones who catch them, and the ones who do their bidding for them. March tries to offer some advice to the cop in search of a killer: Start thinking the impossible is possible. Just because the evidence doesn’t fit, doesn’t mean it isn’t real.

After the desert bell tolls, the killers grab their weapons of choice to murder an unsuspecting businessman in need of a fix from Sally. John begins to slip in and out of consciousness as the murder takes place, and when it is over only Sally appears when he comes to. Will John blame it on the alcohol or finally start to believe?

What about the hotel’s latest master? Do we finally know why The Countess is collecting children?

Yes and no. Alexis and Holden still share a strong sense of longing for one another. But when Alexis takes her son back home, his unusual drinking habits not only cost the family their dog, but the illusion that Alexis could make her family whole again. Returning back the to Cortez, Holden heads back to his coffin-bed while The Countess approaches his mother with an offer and some answers.

Holden was taken by The Countess after she sensed a hard life filled with pain and suffering in his future. But when John took a work call that day at the carousel, The Countess took Holden away from the neglect. Now the only way for Alexis to be with her son again is to join him. An eternity with her lost love in exchange for her undying loyalty. Without so much as considering her daughter’s existence, Alexis takes The Countess up on her offer and drinks the cursed blood from her chest.
