An Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff has just been announced, and we’ve got plenty of ideas.

Though solid information about the spinoff is scarce so far, we’ve taken a few guesses (which range from solid to just a little bit zany) as to what may be coming down Marvel’s television pipeline.

FitzSimmons’ Science Hour

Let’s face it, pretty much everyone’s favorite characters on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons. (And if they aren’t, you’re just wrong.) How cool would it be to give these two adorable breakouts a series of their own? They could investigate diseases, create badass inventions, and go adorably googly-eyed around the major players in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

And let’s get real, Fitz and Simmons are way more involving than they seem. Fans will come for the science jargon and British banter; they’ll stay for the devastating emotional roller coaster on which FitzSimmons take our hearts in every episode.

Agents of That Other S.H.I.E.L.D.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. revealed a major twist a few weeks ago, when a new faction of S.H.I.E.L.D. was unveiled. It was crazy, and we were all ready and set to hate Edward James Olmos’s Robert Gonzales, and everyone associated with him.

Unfortunately, the other-S.H.I.E.L.D. is… kind of awesome.

Robert Gonzales is a grizzled badass. Agent Weaver, who rescued most of S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy from Hydra, wears her brilliant integrity like perfume. Mack and Bobbi may have betrayed Coulson, but they are unswervingly loyal to S.H.I.E.L.D. and what it stands for. (Agent Calderon is a jerk, though.)

But at this point in time, Gonzales and Coulson’s versions of SHIELD are pitted against each other – and we kind of have to root for Team Coulson. So to solve the problem, why not send Edward James Olmos off to be Admiral of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s naval division, and have his crew enjoy adventures on the high seas?

The Adventures of Agent Antoine Triplett

“But Hypable,” you might say. “Trip is dead!”

“Ah ha!” we’ll reply. “So was Coulson!”

And thus begins our idea for the revival of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s recently-deceased ray of sunshine. Yeah, Trip’s death was dramatic. Yeah, it’s become a motivating plot-point for the surviving agents. Yeah, BJ Britt has another show.

We don’t care. Shoot some miracle juice into Trip’s fragments and send him off on his own adventures! Killing bad guys and making friends! Cracking heads and cracking jokes! Bringing the noise and the funk wherever he goes!

Come on, ABC. This show writes itself.

In Treatment with Bobbi and Hunter

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is actually pretty light on shipping, but Bobbi Morse and Lance Hunter’s on-again/off-again relationship is one of our guiltiest pleasures. From Hunter’s endless rants about his “demonic ex-wife,” to Bobbi’s ability to needle Hunter perfectly without breaking a sweat, to watching their sweaty “I love to hate you” hookups, there’s something both rapturously hilarious about their encounters.

But there is no question that these two need therapy – and we want to be there for all of it. Put these two on a couch and let the good times roll!

Er… not like that. In the “snarky comments and emotional breakthroughs” kind of way. You know what we mean.

The Inhumans

While we’re completely serious about all of the suggestions above, we suspect that this option is the one ABC are Marvel are really considering. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is sinking its teeth into debuting the Inhumans – Skye’s powers being the most prominent example – but it seems extremely plausible that the network will want to put the super-powered people on their own stage.

After all, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has always tried to stick to the theme that “Not all heroes are super.” While a divergence into Inhumanity may suit for a season, we can’t help but wonder if the status quo of “normals” will be reasserted soon. The show has already developed several compelling Inhuman characters – Gordon, Lincoln, and Raina, to name a few – and with the Inhumans movie on the distant horizon, we think they are quite likely to be moved over to their own series soon.

The main question we have about this possible spinoff is whether or not Chloe Bennet (Skye) will lead the Inhumans over to their own show, or remain on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. We can’t help but hope that it’s the latter; Skye has grown on us massively since the show began, and by now is the de facto lead. To put it lightly, it’s difficult to imagine Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. without her.

And hey, keeping an Inhuman Skye on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. makes those inevitable crossover episodes a lot easier to set up, right?

What do you want to see in the ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ spinoff series?
