Can’t wait for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 premiere? Watch the first crazy 17 minutes right now!
The full Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 premiere will air on Friday, Dec. 1 at 8:00 p.m. Titled “Orientation,” the two-part episode picks up more or less where the finale left off — our intrepid crew is apprehended by scary dudes in tactical gear, and taken to space.
This clip was originally shown for excited audiences at the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. panel at New York Comic Con, and with just a week to go, the rest of the fandom gets to enjoy it as well. These first 17 minutes offer plenty of questions, but also fills us in on a couple of critical details we missed the first time.
Such as: How do aliens shower? We always wanted to know the answer to that one!
Okay.
This show has gone to some pretty wild places over its four year run — an organization gutted from within, a hell-planet, at least one other dimension, and its own in-world alternate universe — but the first 17 minutes of the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 premiere might just set a new bar for thrillingly insane.
Where do we even start? The alien swimmer who takes his skin off to shower? The fact that Fitz is “Not on the list,” and so not brought along for the trip to space? The return of those crazy monoliths (now available in stylish white!) that sucks the rest of the team off to who-knows where?
Or maybe we should focus on the drained corpses, or Virgil, We Hardly Knew Ye? Or May pulling a metal pipe out of her own leg, or the fact that the team apparently needs to save humanity from the mysterious depths of space?
Whichever angle most appeals to you, one thing is clear: “Orientation” is going to be a crash course in crazy, not only for our intrepid agents, but also for loyal fans.
New stills from the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 premiere don’t give us much more context, except for what seems to be the face of the man in the Starlord mask — but hey, we’ll take what we can get!
And as for the official synopsis, here’s what ABC has to say: “Coulson and the team find themselves stranded on a mysterious ship in outer space, and that’s just the beginning of the nightmare to come.”
