Chloe Bennet has revealed the short haircut she’ll be rocking as Daisy Johnson in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3.
Bennet teased her haircut last week in a video posted to Instagram, generating excitement — and some anxiety — among fans of the show. But the end result makes it clear that no one needed to worry.
The shorter haircut is part of Bennet’s ongoing transformation on the Marvel television series. Her character, known as Skye for the first two seasons, will be embracing her birth identity in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3 — that of comic book badass Daisy Johnson. Her illustrated counterpart (codename: Quake) is almost always drawn with close-cropped hair, and Bennet’s incarnation is embracing the spirit of Daisy’s ‘do.
But even Bennet admits that she felt… well, a touch of anxiety at the thought of cutting her hair. In fact, “shitting myself for weeks” is how the actress herself puts it.
“My confidence is apparently attached into my hair,” she explains, describing the haircut experience as “crazy.”
“I cried a little bit, to be honest, and definitely had some anxiety,” Bennet admits. “I should have brought tequila with me. One hundred percent.”

The actress explains that she was also concerned with juggling her character’s look with her own sense of style.
“We wanted to stay true to the comic book character fans love,” she says. “I wanted to please them, but also make sure there was still some movement and length and sexiness in the hair.”
The end result seems to balance those desires well, and Bennet has warmed up to her new look.
“I’m in love with it,” she says. “And I think for the character, it is going to be awesome.”
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3 debuts on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 9:00 p.m. on ABC.
